Wayne Keeser
There’s nothing Wayne Keeser loves more than a day of hunting and fishing. But the 70-year-old Johnson Creek heart patient had been sidelined from these activities due to circulatory problems that caused his feet to feel cold and painful when he walked.
In 2008, a few months after he had open heart surgery, Wayne and his wife, Karen, were searching for a new cardiologist. Impressed by his experience, education, and warm and personal approach to care, they chose cardiologist Vik Chhokar, MD, of UW Health Partners Watertown Regional Medical Center.
At an initial heart-care consult with Chhokar, Wayne mentioned his foot problems. Chhokar conducted a diagnostic test and recommended a procedure to correct the problem.
During the procedure, Chhokar discovered something more serious: extensive blockages in the arteries supplying blood to Wayne’s legs. Advanced forms of this type of vascular disease can lead to rest pain, the development of foot ulcers and the onset of limb loss.
Using advanced technology, Chhokar cleared the blocked areas which restored blood flow to Wayne’s legs and feet. Today, he is doing well and is thrilled to be able to return to his favorite pastimes. He can walk without pain and says his feet haven’t felt this warm for years.
During his hospital stay, Wayne said he always feels comfortable and informed about his health. Chhokar takes pride in providing clinically excellent care and makes time to make sure patients understand all aspects of their treatment.
The power of advanced heart and vascular care holds the promise of healthier lives for patients like Wayne. Imagine what it could do for you.
